Spending the day monitoring Facebook, Google+, and Twitter, I’ve noticed the trending conversation surrounding sensitivity readers. This relates to the writing and publishing of children’s books. I happened to come across this publisher’s weekly article concerning sensitivity readers.
It appears there is a question being raised in the literary community. Are sensitive readers more into censoring a writer’s plot and story than incorporating cultural diversity? Or, are sensitivity readers helpful in preventing potential social media backlash toward an author based on subjective and perceived threats of potential racist or phobic writings?
