Works in Progress — February Update

It’s been an intense and productive stretch of writing, editing, and restructuring across all three major projects, each demanding a unique approach and considerable dedication. With March as the target month for publication, I’ve shifted fully into “deep work” mode, immersing myself in the creative process with unwavering focus to ensure each book receives the attention and craftsmanship it truly deserves. This period of concentrated effort has allowed me to refine my ideas, enhance the narrative structures, and elevate the overall quality of the manuscripts. As I navigate through this intricate web of storytelling and technical detail, I remain committed to delivering compelling stories that resonate with readers and reflect my vision as an author.

1. Mourning Ellyn— Rewrite & Final Draft Progress

I’m currently working through Chapter Seven of the revised manuscript. The original print edition contained forty‑four chapters, and as I move through each one, I’m expanding the emotional depth, tightening the narrative, and bringing forward the supernatural elements that were always meant to be part of Ellyn’s story. This ongoing revision is not only a labor of love but also an essential process to ensure that the story resonates more profoundly with readers.

Ellyn remains a central presence—now more clearly portrayed as a spirit tethered to Jaymes as he navigates grief, memory, and the thin veil between life and death. This rewrite is transforming the characters from their earlier 2‑dimensional forms into fully realized, 3‑dimensional personalities. Each character is being endowed with unique backstories, motivations, and emotional complexities that reflect the human experience in a more authentic manner. Jaymes, Camus Chandler, Desiree, and Georgia (Maddy) are all receiving deeper arcs, stronger motivations, and more authentic emotional resonance. This process allows their journeys to feel more relatable, as they confront their fears, desires, and the intricacies of their relationships with one another.

I’m also correcting the grammar, misspellings, and structural issues that were never properly edited in the original release. This meticulous attention to detail will enhance readability and ensure that the story’s flow is as seamless as possible. Once the Kindle manuscript is complete, I’ll shift into typesetting the print edition, ensuring it meets the quality standard I want for this new version. Typesetting is an essential step, as it not only involves the layout and design of the pages but also ensures that the book is visually appealing and conducive to an enjoyable reading experience.

As I approach the final stages of this project, I’m still weighing whether to include a hardcover edition alongside paperback and Kindle for the March release window. The decision is not straightforward, as it involves considerations of production costs, market demand, and the overall aesthetic I envision for the book. A hardcover edition could provide a beautiful, durable option for collectors and readers who appreciate the tactile experience of a physical book. Ultimately, my goal is to deliver a complete and polished narrative that captures the spirit of the story while appealing to a wide range of readers.

2. Lost Girls: Eden’s Descent— Finalization Phase

This project is moving into its final stretch as well, marking an exciting phase in the journey of bringing this story to life. I’m focusing on the last rounds of editing, proofreading, and typesetting for both Kindle and print, ensuring every detail is meticulously polished to create the best reading experience possible. The story is tightening up beautifully, as I delve deeper into character development and plot intricacies, refining sentences and enhancing descriptions to engage the reader on a more profound level. The thematic cohesion is stronger than ever, weaving together the various threads of narrative and emotion, which not only captivates but also resonates with the intended audience, inviting them into a world that feels both relatable and compelling. As I approach the finish line, the anticipation of sharing this journey with readers grows, filling me with a sense of accomplishment and excitement.

3. Winds of Redemption— Preparing for Publication

This manuscript is also approaching its final phase, and we are diligently working to refine every detail. The goal is to have it fully ready for Kindle and print by March, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of quality and coherence. This timeline is aligned with the unified release schedule for all current works, which allows us to create a cohesive experience for our readers. Each step in this process is crucial, as we strive to enhance not only the narrative flow but also the overall presentation, making sure that both formats are polished and appealing.

Creative Schedule Adjustments

Because these three books are now in their critical final stages, I’m temporarily suspending devotional content and other regular creative posts. This allows me to hunker down and give these projects the focused attention they require during this pivotal time. Writing a book is often a deeply immersive process, and I want to ensure that every word, every idea, and every message is crafted with the utmost care.

Once the manuscripts and print editions are complete, I’ll resume the usual rhythm of teaching, devotional writing, and study content that many of you have come to appreciate and look forward to. I truly believe that a pause now will lead to much richer content in the future, as I will be bringing fresh insights and refined concepts gleaned from these lengthy projects.

Thank you for your patience, encouragement, and support as these stories move toward their finished forms. Your understanding means a lot to me during this intensive period. March is shaping up to be a significant milestone, with the potential to unveil something truly meaningful. I’m excited to share these completed works with you soon and to explore new avenues of inspiration together when I return.
